Commissioning a portrait is as unique and individual as the sitter. I am always very happy to discuss exactly what sort of image you have in mind.

Subjects

I work with both adults and children. I can also do groups/ multiple portraits as well as animals.

Process

Ideally, I would like to have at least 1 sitting in person with the subject. This process usually takes around 3-4 hours. I will discuss what you have in mind and take photographs and sketches.

However, I can also work entirely from photographs that you provide as long as they are good quality photographs with high resolution.

I will first come up with composition and colour studies. I will show these to you before starting the final painting to make sure you are happy with the design.

Timeline

I will discuss the timeline with you. Commissioning a portrait is a long process which can take several weeks- months. I recommend to have the painting varnished to really bring out the colours and to protect the painting. I will do this free of charge. This is usually done around 5-6 months after completion. However, if you wish to have the painting sooner, the painting can be delivered ‘dry to touch’ but not ready to be varnished around 1 month after completion. Varnishing the painting too soon can results in damage to the painting.

Price

As portrait commission is a unique process. The price will be dependent on the complexity, size and medium used. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss further details.
